The Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, on Monday visited the 34-kilometer Ikorodu–Itokin Road and Imota Mini Stadium to assess the progress of ongoing infrastructural projects he facilitated.
The Ikorodu–Itoikin Road, one of the most strategic infrastructure corridors in Lagos State, links Ikorodu to Epe, Ijebu Ode, Ibeju-Lekki, and several adjoining communities. It serves as a vital socio-economic artery facilitating commerce, mobility, and inter-community connectivity across the eastern axis of the state.

Senator Abiru inspected sections of the reconstruction project, engaging directly with engineers and site supervisors. While reaffirming his commitment to always seek greater good for the larger constituents of Lagos East, he emphasized the need for strict adherence to quality standards and timely delivery.
Speaking during the visit, Senator Abiru described the road as “a lifeline for thousands of people and businesses in the Lagos East corridor,” adding that its completion would significantly ease transportation challenges for commuters and enhance economic productivity.
“This project is critical to the economic and social well-being of our people. It connects major towns and serves as a vital link to Epe, Ijebu Ode, and the Lekki-Epe Industrial Corridor. I came here on a routine inspection and to encourage the contractor to complete the project within the scheduled time frame,” the Senator said.
The Senator also made a stop at the Imota Mini Stadium, where work is equally progressing. He reiterated the importance of sports development in engaging youth productively and promoting community cohesion. “Sports play a major role in empowering our young people, and projects like the Imota Mini Stadium are part of our efforts to nurture their potential,” he stated.

During the inspections, residents of Lagos East turned out, expressing enthusiasm and appreciation for Senator Abiru’s hands-on approach and his visible impact across the district. Many described him as a leader who not only listens but also acts, bridging the gap between governance and grassroots needs.
Mrs. Abiodun Oluwadara, a resident of Agbowa, praised the Senator’s commitment, saying, “We have not seen a Senator so consistent in following up on projects. The Ikorodu–Itoikin Road had been a nightmare for years, but today we are seeing real change.”

The ongoing reconstruction forms part of the broader infrastructure renewal drive under the #RenewedHope Agenda of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration, with the unwavering support of the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and the Honourable Minister of Works, Senator Engr. Dave Umahi, CON.

Senator Abiru has facilitated numerous constituency projects, including roads, hospitals, classrooms, and empowerment programmes, reflecting his vision of inclusive, people-focused governance. He has consistently advocated for equitable development across Lagos East.
The lawmaker inspected the projects in the company of his team, led by his Special Adviser on Constituency Matters, Dr. (Otunba) Saheed Oladapo Ibikunle.
